CANDLE-MAKING EXPERIENCE

You’ll begin by exploring our collection of over 100 fragrances, sampling and noting your favorites. Then, choose your product—whether it’s a candle, wax tart, room and linen spray, travel air freshener, or home fragrance oil. Our expert scent consultants will guide you in selecting up to three fragrances to blend into your perfect custom scent. Next, design your own personalized label before pouring your unique fragrance blend into your chosen product.

We suggest making a reservation to ensure you are able to make your candle. However, we try to accommodate walk-ins when we can. We are currently taking reservations for groups of all sizes! Reserve your spot here.

Pricing varies based on the size and style of the jar you choose, ranging from $22 to $55— with plenty of options under $30. Plus, all of our home fragrance products are part of a buy 3, get 1 free deal!

Plan on about 30-45 minutes in-store, depending on the size of your group. Candles then take 2 hours to cool before they are ready to take home. This is a perfect time for your group to enjoy a bite to eat or drink at one of many local restaurants or do some shopping.
If you’d like to pick up your candles the same day, we recommend booking your reservation at least 3 hours before closing. No worries if that doesn’t work— we’ll hold your candles for up to 6 months, and we also offer shipping! (We can ship up to 4 candles to a single address for just $10.)

Yes, we’re BYOB! We provide cups and bottle openers for your convenience. We kindly ask that guests limit alcoholic beverages to two per person. Wine, beer, seltzers, and similar drinks are welcome—but please, no hard liquor.

We do not allow outside food during regular visits, but if you’d like to bring in food, we do allow it for private events. Click here for more information on how to book a private event.

Yes! We love introducing kids to the world of fragrance. For safety and the best experience, children under 13 should be accompanied by an adult, and those under 7 require direct adult participation.

We use a clean-burning soy wax blend that provides an even, long-lasting burn.

We have over 100 premium fragrance oils ranging from fresh and floral to warm and spicy. You can create custom blends or choose from our signature scents.

Our candles are fitted with cotton wicks, selected based on the candle size to ensure a steady, clean flame.

We offer a wide variety of jar styles and sizes, generally ranging from 8oz to 16oz, with options from single wick up to three wicks. You’ll find many colors, styles, finishes, and decorative vessels to choose from—so you can create the perfect candle for your space.

We do not currently offer candle refills to ensure the highest safety and quality standards for every candle we make. However, you can bring in your empty Mix Candle Co jars for recycling—we’ll give you $2 credit per jar toward your next purchase.

For quality and safety, we only use our curated collection of fragrance oils.

If your candle isn’t burning properly, here are a few tips to help:
Trim the wick: Before each burn, trim the wick to about ¼ inch. This helps prevent soot and ensures a steady flame.
Burn time: Allow your candle to burn long enough for the melted wax to reach the edges of the jar during each use. This helps prevent tunneling and promotes an even burn.
Avoid drafts: Keep your candle away from fans, open windows, or air vents. Drafts can cause the flame to flicker and burn unevenly.
Place on a stable, heat-resistant surface: This keeps the candle steady and safe while burning.
If you’ve tried these tips and your candle still isn’t burning properly, please contact us—we’re happy to assist and make sure you get the best experience with your candle.

For safety reasons, we do not allow guests to add gems, dried flowers, or other additives to their candles during the making process. This helps ensure an even, clean burn and prevents any hazards.

We have two locations in Pittsburgh:
Lawrenceville: 4409 Butler Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15201
SouthSide Works: 2746 Sidney Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15203

Our hours are Monday through Saturday from 11 AM to 8 PM (closed Tuesdays through September), and Sundays from 11 AM to 5 PM.

Our Lawrenceville location has 26 seats, and SouthSide Works has 23. For larger groups, we’re happy to accommodate by cycling guests through available seats. If your group has 10 or more people, please note that you may need to rotate through 10 seats to ensure a smooth experience for both your group and other guests. Parties of 20 or more will require a deposit to secure your booking.

Yes, both of our locations are wheelchair accessible.

Yes! In Lawrenceville, paid street parking is available nearby. At SouthSide Works, you’ll find both paid street parking and several parking garages surrounding the area for your convenience.

Well-behaved pets are welcome! For everyone’s comfort and safety, please keep your pets on a leash. Service animals are always allowed.
